USC Completes Second Round of ECOVIP Online Entrepreneurship Course with Strong Results
Cebu City, Philippines — The University of San Carlos has successfully concluded the second implementation of the ECOVIP Online Entrepreneurship Course, as presented during the ECOVIP Assessment Workshop 2 held on April 14, 2026.
A total of 133 students enrolled in the course, which was offered as a free elective under SOEN 1 (Social Entrepreneurship). Of these, 120 students successfully completed the program, achieving a remarkable 100% completion rate among those who actively participated until the end.
The course followed a blended learning modality combining face-to-face sessions, asynchronous online modules, and practical activities. It covered three core ECOVIP modules: Entrepreneurship Fundamentals, Base Business Creation Model, and Entrepreneurship Implementation and Communication Techniques. Students from diverse programs — including Tourism and Hospitality (52), ICT (17), Natural Sciences (10), and other fields (54) — gained valuable knowledge and skills in social entrepreneurship and sustainable business development.
Faculty members from the School of Business and Economics and the Department of Hospitality and Tourism led the course, with support from guest speakers and industry practitioners. The program emphasized real-world application, culminating in student business proposals and presentations.
Looking ahead, USC has outlined clear sustainability plans to institutionalize the course. Starting Academic Year 2026–2027, the entrepreneurship module will continue to be offered every semester as an elective, supported by the university’s LMS (Canvas), dedicated faculty, and program budget.
This achievement forms part of USC’s ongoing commitment under the ECOVIP Project — an Erasmus+ initiative co-funded by the European Union — which seeks to strengthen entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism education across partner universities in Vietnam and the Philippines.
The successful second run of the ECOVIP Online Entrepreneurship Course demonstrates USC’s dedication to innovative, inclusive, and future-ready education that equips Carolinian students with the skills to create meaningful social and economic impact.
